B. F. White directed the publication of several editions and printings of the Sacred Harp from its first inception in 1844, to the third edition of 1869. The Original Sacred Harp is a selection of songs written or arranged expressly for the Sacred Harp during this time, including many of the most popular shape note tunes, as well as several well-known hymns with origins in the Sacred Harp. This disc documents the distinct sound that makes the Sacred Harp unique.
